| Explanation |
| A large amount of suspended biological carriers with a specific gravity close to that of water (i.e., what you call
“filter media”) are added to the reaction tank (such as an aeration tank or anaerobic tank). Through aeration or
stirring, these carriers are uniformly fluidized and tumbled in the water. As wastewater flows through the reactor,
a biofilm rich in microorganisms grows on the surface of the carriers. These microorganisms decompose and
digest organic pollutants in the water. |
